Keep on Shopping !
Updated: Jul 15, 2022
Shopping for stocks, that is. Let's face it, we are in a horrible environment for stocks. The economic indicators are terrible. We are in the midst of a legendary bear market. This situation is complicated even more by geopolitical strife and risk. Its gotten to the point that the government is pumping out new public service announcement videos on the topic of radiation protocol; that’s a flashback to the 60s. You can still find those films on Youtube and on Turner Classic Movies. Back then, the narrator gave examples that emerged during the testing of nuclear bombs. Stuff like “be sure to keep your house freshly painted.” The 2022 version features a upbeat on camera host. I was tempted to post those PSAs but I will spare you. Consider it a public service. As a guy who survived the 60s and 70s, there are a lot of parallel problems these days: gas shortages and inflation are certainly the main culprits.

BULLS: I spend time compiling a list of stocks to jump into when the time is right, but right now I will share a really boring name to consider with the idea of selling covered calls and collecting dividends and option premiums. United Postal Service UPS. I think this stock will eventually resume its uptrend but if you have the wherewithal to purchase, let’s say 300 shares, you then have the ability to generate $700 a month or more income on this side trending name. In addition, you will be paid $460 quarterly in pure dividend income. UPS delivers in more than one way throughout the US and 220 different countries ! Another thing to consider, there’s a way to replicate this strategy using various option spread trades which require much less capital but without the benefit of the dividend payment.
BALLERS: One of the finest clutch hitters of all time, Mets and Cardinals legend, Kieth Hernandez was honored recently when the Mets retired his number 17 and hoisted it to the rafters at CitiField in New York. I had the pleasure of interviewing Keith a number of times over the years, and like most folks, he has sure mellowed with age. Once upon a time in the 80s, he was an edgy and intense dude. Nowadays, as the Mets TV color-man, he occasionally shows up to the booth in sandals and talks about his cat. This has resulted in quite a bit of fame for Keith's four-legged friend. Fans even created signs featuring Keith’s cat Hadji.
